picnic

When is it going to really be summer? Our weather has been really lousy this summer. It's raining again today. We did manage to find a nice day and have a picnic this week. Aunt Martha is here visiting from South Carolina.
We went to the big park in Monroeville. The kids had fun running around and playing, riding bikes, playing tennis. Even the "grown ups" had fun. It turned out to be a really nice day.

camp

We discovered something reasonably new this week......Jordan is a serious camper! He left on Sunday for camp kidzone with our church. The senior high youth group put it on. Sleeping bag? check. clean underwear? check. Getting embarrassed by my Dad? check. The bus was late bringing them home today. We were all in the parking lot waiting when all of a sudden we heard all this honking and cheering, low and behold here comes the bus into the parking lot. Who was hanging out the farthest back window?

Yep, you guessed it....my kid!

The man who was a leader in his cabin told me "he was really good. I enjoyed having him, and boy can he eat!" Huh? Jordan? You've got to be kidding me! So why does he still weigh 50 pounds? ( Okay keep the jokes about my cooking to yourselves!)He also told me that Jordan wanted to keep their cabin flag....as you can see they were team spruce. He had such a good time. He said that he wishes he could come home for a day, shower and get clean clothes and go back. (Since when does he care about clean clothes or showers?)

vehicle trouble take 2

Well it's that time again.........
Cody looked out the window at lunch time the other day and said "Mom, why did Dad leave the truck here today?" Hummm, curious. Seems we are back to climbing under the hood. As you can see he's smiling so he eventually did get it running again. Wish we could walk everywhere we needed to go and didn't have to depend on unreliable machinery!

4th

Our 4th of July picnic was fun. Both of my brothers and their families came. We did burgers and dogs, and everything that comes with that.Little DJ was having fun running around and getting dirty! Every little boys dream.... Madisyn had a Wii showdown with Uncle Tom in bowling......which she won! Go Maddy.....
We goofed off most of the day.......Chasing kids and eating..... (Hey Jun, there's brownies!)
Till Len and Dayne decided to load buckets with water,go into Jordan's room, open the window, and while Lisa and I lured the kids under the window for a "picture", they poured 10 gallons of water on them. This is the only picture I got of the event as Lisa and I were peeing our pants laughing.......
Even though it was overcast there is always time for slip n slide..... All the "kids" went on....
And one big "kid" who ended up with brush burns all up his chest......Then it was time for fireworks.......
Hope everyone had as much fun as we did...........

Final day

Our final day of our adventures with Alexis found us picking up Cody this afternoon from his trip. We ate lunch out. They went to the pool for about an hour, just because it was cold and they were the only ones there. I am still wondering if it's really July. Today our temps were just barely in the 70's. We had Spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. I figured for our last hoorah I would treat them all to DQ......

"HEY GET YOUR OWN"Cody got back in one piece. He seems more mature to me. I think that maybe serving others all week will do that to a person. Not sure if he really is or if I have been hanging out with 9 year olds all week and my intuition is blurry!

HAPPY 4th EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Day 3

Yesterday we went to see the new Ice Age Movie.......It was cute. Popcorn, lemonade, and a movie what a fun way to spend the afternoon.today I had to stop at the doctors and pick up a prescription, so on the way home we stopped at the skate park, but unfortunately we didn't have any "equipment" , but that didn't stop them from playing on all the ramps......

While running on the ramps they noticed that there was a playground next door. Time to play....

It's been raining all week but we still found time to have some fun!
