demolition

After working really hard yesterday trying to knock the ice from the gutters, this morning we heard a very loud crash. I thought Jordan had fallen out of his bed again. (he has done that in the past, out of his loft bed!) But after further investigation turns out the snow and ice has gotten the better of our front dormer........ the entire gutter system came down
There is a gaping hole. No leaks into the house yet! Is it time to call homeowners? Please spring hurry on your way!

skate night

Friday night was another skate night. First time back since the big snow.
After working up an appetite skating it was time to head out for ice cream or or coffee and donuts.

No cavities

It's that time again. Does he look a little worried? He should I know for a fact that he doesn't brush his teeth for a week at a time....AnywayAfter the big after school rush, they both got cleaned and x rayed.
I really hate when I spend a bunch of time at home telling them that if they don't brush they're going to have a bunch of cavities and then they go and both have none! I am however also thankful for that very thing. See ya in 6 months!

double vision

The day came that I was hoping would not have to come for Jordan, he got his first pair of glasses. At his annual physical appointment they asked him to read the eye chart and he got it all wrong. I thought he was just fooling around, being Jordan. But turns out he was trying his best. Then the school nurse sent home a paper saying we needed to have his eyes checked. So last week he went for his exam and today we picked them up.
He kept saying that he wasn't going to wear them but once he saw how clear everything was he changed his mind! I think he looks extra cute!

Cody also got a new pair since he got his in July and by September they were broken. He looks handsome as well don't you think? Today was a milestone in another way for Cody. He bought his first Valentine's card for a girl! The little red headed girl at school! Just kidding. Don't know what color her hair is. Her name is Stephanie. Not sure I am ready for this!

girly

We are continuing to get bombarded with snow. Just when you think it's over you look out the window and the roads are covered again! Last night was one of those nights. So what's a girl to do? Sew! While doing laundry in the basement a soft warm piece of flannel was by the sewing machine calling my name. It had been calling me for some time and I had been putting other priorities ahead of it. I know that really hurts their feelings doesn't it? So with the snow coming down and feeling the chill I took the plunge and made myself the softest warmest little girl jammies in the world! And oh what a night of sleep I had! Every woman deserves to have a pair of little girl, pink with blue butterflies, jammies, and a pair of pink fuzzy slippers in their wardrobe! Valentine's day is coming up guys! I sew cheap! (Not I'm so cheap!)

morning

This is what it looked like in the morning......... from the front porch and the back......Don't think we'll be cooking on the grill anytime soon......
Poor dog couldn't even go out and pee this morning. Snow was over his head. He kept looking at me and then looking at the wall of snow he had to get over. Tom went to work today to deliver mail. It's that whole rain, hail, dark of night thing! How long till spring anyway?

blizzard

Snow started around 12:00 just like they predicted. Here we are at 9:30 and it is still snowing as if we are in the movie "It's a wonderful life". (At least that's what it reminds me of when I look outside)In case you can't read the yard stick that I placed in the snow, it says 9 1/2 inches!!!!! Wonder what it'll read in the morning? I really should have bought milk today!

Lazy sunday

It was kind of a lazy Sunday here. First we went to church where we witnessed a man fall flat on his face on the sidewalk in front of us. His eye was cut and bleeding. I felt so bad. Luckily our church has a nurse on call who is mostly there for the kids when they get banged up but she was able to take care of him. Everyone kept telling Tom "nice hat"! One of the kids said he looked like sherlock holmes! Then it was time for a little hockey smackdown! Jordan and Tom were playing on the same team at first but Jordan got disgusted with Tom's play and the fact that they were losing 6 - 0 that he went back to the menu and separated them! Now it was a no holds barred beatdown! Cody then thought that he was going to be a tough guy and give dear ole' Dad a beating in football. First play of the game, Tom got the ball and ran all the way out of the stadium! It was so funny. Cody was yelling "No, Dad, hit the button, hit the button" Tom almost fell out of his chair with laughter! The game was called on account of haircuts. They each needed a trim. I do it with clippers. Then it was time to head back to church. Jordan slammed a hat on his head and complained the whole way there about how stupid he looked! LOL

saturday

What in the world are we doing swimming? you ask. Cody was on the winter retreat with our church so Jordan and I hung out all day....First we went to the pool at the junior high and did some swimming
then we headed to the library to play a little chess.....
came home and changed clothes and went to dinner at the Olive Garden courtesy of Ken & Debbie! Thank you so much. We had to wait an hour to get in so Jordan made a friend outside, Anthony, and they played in the snow a little together! We asked him what he wanted to do fun after dinner and he picked walk around the mall! How fun is that? Blah

lemonade

When life hands you lemons (five days of almost continual snow) what else can you do, but make lemonade.........
Tom and the "super sled" ( 2 pairs of skis from the trash screwed to a board for a seat) head up one of the best places around to sled ride.....WH high school...Cody.......and Jordan have both gotten pretty good on their snowboards....the olympics can't be far away....
Tom opts for a more traditional ride.....he also ripped his pants on the way down........
The super sled goes so fast there isn't much time to stop......Statement of the day, from Tom while looking for his gloves " if you aren't wearing gloves on the super sled, you can't stop"!

Good-bye 2009

We say a fond farewell to 2009 and begin a new decade on this big celestial ball. What will this year hold? Do we really have to take some of last year with us or can we have a fresh new start? These are just a few of the things going through my mind this new years eve. So many questions. I am not one for making resolutions, mostly because I never keep them, but somehow I feel like the only thing that we can do is trust God. To not try and understand why but to ask "how Lord, how can we make this happen"? Trusting Him to work out all for good, to His glory. Happy 2010! The only thing I really wish for us all is PEACE, may it fill your heart and your life this whole year through.

chess

In the past year or so Jordan has learned to play chess. We go to the library almost every saturday. They have an older gentleman who gives of his time to teach the children chess for free. Jordan loves it. The teacher said that he is really good at it. He really stops and thinks about every move very carefully, soon he will be beating him. He even played this fall after school at the school for the deaf. Tom came home tonight after being out in the snow all day, to a nice fire in the wood burning stove, and his favorite dinner, chili. Then it was time to sit down and play Jordan in chess.........
as you can see Jordan took him to task! I can't even recall the number of times I heard "check"!

Let it snow

Yippee....the first "play" snowfall of the year!

knowing that I have been a little stressed out these past few days, my wonderful husband showed up afterwork yesterday with this in his arms....... It's so pretty!Sorry ladies but I think that I have the best husband in the world!

He did manage to get a free dessert out of the deal! Then it was time for his favorite dessert....cake
Happy Birthday honey, I'll love you forever!
